Dinky Daisy's DOG PROPERTY LAWS....

1. If I like it, it's mine.

Here Are Carol Jean's 10 Dinky Dogs.

Here are all 10 of Carol Jean's Darling Dinky Dogs. Four of us crossed the Rainbow Bridge this year...Sadie and Kadie at the top left, and Pee-Wee and Genny-Poo at the top right. It's sad without them, but Baby Joy, in the center on the right, has done a lot to cheer us all up. Right now Waldo is tickling her as they roll around on the floor together. Clancy sleeps wrapped around her to keep her safe, and Sophie and Dinky Daisy take turns playing with her in the garden. We are all a happy group and love having such a nice large family. We are six now and that seems just right. Tail Wags And Puppy Kisses To You All. Woof!

Gidget, The Taco Bell Dog Dies.

I am sad to report that Gidget the Chihuahua, whose Taco Bell commercials made her a star, has died. She was 15. On July 21, 2009 Gidget was euthanized after suffering a massive stroke. I always loved those commercials, didn't you? She will be missed.

New Photos Of Baby Joy, 11 Week Old Chorkie Puppy. (A Chihuahua / Yorkie.)

This week we had a little photo session and fashion show with Baby Joy. She's 11 weeks old now, and has her own ideas about things. She can be so sweet and loving, but then wants to get down and play. She sometimes gives me a devilish look out of the corner of her eye, and then watch out! She's been playing every day with "The Boys", Clancy and Waldo, and she's getting to be quite a Tomboy. I have to remember to hold her every day and make her relax and enjoy being held, or she may become too much of a "Doggie Dog", preferring the other dogs company to humans. She has such a big appetite! And I'm sure she grows bigger overnight! I hope she stays small, but we'll just have to wait and see. At first she looked very much like a little Yorkie puppy, but now she's resembling a Long Haired Chihuahua more. She has soft, silky, shiny black hair that has a sort of blue sheen to it in the sun, which reminds me of the color of Superman's hair in the old comic books! She totally joins in with whatever the other dogs are doing and they are getting more used to her every day. Yesterday I took a few very short videos of her playing with the other dogs in the garden and you just have to laugh at how funny she is. If you would like to see her album, or the slide show of her album, there are links on the right side of the page if you click on her photos. If you play the slide show, the videos play one after the other. I will update her album every week or so if you want to watch Baby Joy grow. She sends Tail Wags and Doggie Kisses to you all! ~Carol Jean~

Clancy The Pomchi Kaleidoscope.

Here's a picture of my Pomchi, (Pomeranian Chihuahua), Clancy as through a Kaleidoscope x 4. Isn't he sweet?

How I Helped Clancy To Not Be Afraid Of Fireworks And Thunder.

Poor little Clancy is a Pomchi, a Pomeranian Chihuahua, and he is a Rescue Dog. Read his story in the sidebar at the right side of this page. It's also posted at the Animal Rescue Site and the link to that is at the bottom of this blog page. When Clancy came to live with us he was very frightened of loud noises. He was terrified and trembled when we had a thunder storm, or if the neighbor kids shot off some fireworks. He would try to climb into my lap, but even if I held him and talked soothingly to him, he would not stop trembling. I could tell by his behavior when I first took him in, that he was unused to coming into a house, so I think he must have been left outside in the rain and thunder many times, possibly without even any shelter. I felt so sorry for him. Then I watched one of The Dog Whisperer shows with Cesar Millan, and on that show, a couple had a very fearful dog. They had tried for years to soothe him and stroked him when he was afraid, and they pitied him, but nothing had helped him. Then Cesar came to their house and he explained that when a dog is fearful, and you say to him, "It's alright" and pet him, he thinks you're actually telling him that it's alright to be afraid. You are reinforcing his fear and feeding it. It's better to ignore it. Act calm, so the dog sees you are not afraid yourself, and then don't look at the dog, or pet him. Just perhaps gently tell him to hush and lay down, but then don't say anything else. After a while, the dog will become quiet, and each time it will happen sooner until the dog won't be afraid anymore. I decided to try this with my Clancy, and it worked! It took a while, but each time he trembled less and for less time, until now he hardly notices the thunder anymore. Last week I knew we had won that battle when he volunteered to accompany me out on the front porch to watch a wonderful lightning storm that lit up the sky like fireworks. He stood next to me and watched it with me and didn't show any fear at all. So I would recommend Cesar's training methods, and also to watch his TV show, The Dog Whisperer. There is a link to his site in the side bar at the right side of this page. Thank you, Cesar! ~Carol Jean~

Carol Doing The Doggie Walk With Her Dinky Dogs.

Hello Friends, I found an old email I sent to a friend 2 years ago about what it was like to let the dogs out. Since then I've lost a few dogs and added a few more, so the names have changed, but the story hasn't. Here is what it sounds like...what I do all day...

"Come on doggies, let's walk out to the gate...go...go,go...go potty. Did you go
potty? OK, good doggies. Let's go back to the house now. Pepe, quit
barking! Everybody in? One, two, three...four, five... where's Sadie?
Hurry up Sadie. Come on. OK, now everybody gets a cookie! Momma loves the
doggies! Here, get your cookies! Sadie, here's yours, then
Pee-Wee...Genny, no, you don't get, that's enough...Sophie, here's
yours, take it, come on now. You don't like that kind? OK, how about a
Chicken flavored How about a beef one? OK, that's better. Pepe,
you'd better come and get your cookie, because I'm not coming in there to
give it to you. There you go. And a little one for Waldo. Everybody got
one? Waldo, did Sadie take yours? Bad dog're getting too fat.
Don't you take Waldo's cookie. Here Waldo. . OK, now that's all. Silly

And this goes on exactly the same way 8 times a day.
Exactly! Carol Jean :)

Meet Baby Joy, A Chorkie Puppy.

Meet Baby Joy, A Chorkie puppy. She's 9 weeks old. She was born on April 22, 2009. A Chorkie is a hybrid "designer dog" who is half Chihuahua and half Yorkie. Joy's mother was a 5 1/2 pound Yorkie and her father was a 7 pound Merle Chihuahua. I don't know if the father was long or short haired, but one of the other puppies in the litter was a short haired Merle. At 9 weeks, Joy weighs 2 pounds. She had an identical brother from the same litter that was significantly larger. I hope little Joy stays small, because I prefer Dinky Dogs! It's too early to say how she will look as she grows, but at this time she most resembles a Yorkie puppy. She has very smooth, soft, shiny black hair that is growing longer every day. She's very intelligent and has been no bother at all. She follows my other Dinky Dogs around and mimics everything they do. She's very funny and confident. She can go all the way up and down the stairs by herself now and sleeps next to the other dogs. Clancy has taken a liking to her especially, and lets her curl up with him. I have posted some first photos of her and a few short videos in her album at, and if you click on her photo at the right side of this page, it will take you there. I'll add new photos as she grows so you can follow her progress. Baby Joy is a sweet little dog and I hope you agree with me that she's special. So I now have 6 Dinky Dogs living here with me, and one 20 year old cat, and we are quite content! ~Carol Jean~

Dinky Daisy Is Two Years Old. Happy Birthday Daisy!

Little Dinky Daisy turned two in May. Daisy is a Pomchi, or a Pomeranian Chihuahua. Her hair has grown out quite long and wavy. She has such a sweet little face, but sure looks different than she did in her baby photos, don't you think? We hope to take more new photos of her soon, but for now, here is a very sweet one of her. Happy Birthday Daisy!

My little dogs Pee-Wee and Genny-Poo have crossed the Rainbow Bridge...

My Dear Friends, my little dogs Pee-Wee and Genny-Poo have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They were brother and sister. They lived from May 20, 1999 to May 7, 2009, two weeks short of their 10 th Birthday. They were born together, played and slept together, and died and were buried together, side by side in death as in life. My little darlings...Rest In Peace, until we meet again...

Stinky Dinky Daisy Takes A Bath.

[Post by Dinky Daisy.] Spring is almost here and the sun is shining again. We Doggies here at Darling Dinky Dogs have been running circles around the garden. It's so much fun! We even got to sit in the Gazebo with Mom one day this week. It's been so long since we could do that. I didn't think Winter would ever end. I got a bit muddy the other day, and Mom had to give me a bath. She said I was Stinky Dinky Daisy! After the bath, it took her an hour and a half to comb me out. Of course, that was partly because I was chewing on the comb. When she was done, she had a pile of hair as big as me! So I guess I'd better stay away from the mud puddles for a while. Bark at ya later, Sweet Smelling Dinky Daisy. Woof!

Happy St. Patrick's Day To You All.

We here at Darling Dinky Dogs want to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day! On March 17th, here in the USA, we can all be Irish for one day and dress up in green clothes covered with Shamrocks. Mom dressed us all up a couple of years ago and took our pictures in the garden. All five of us original dogs were dressed up this way, and each one of us has had our pictures Featured at Webshots for the Holiday. From top to bottom, we are: Pee-Wee a Maltese-Chihuahua, Sadie a Maltese, Kadie, Sadie's daughter, a Maltese, Genny-Poo a Long-Haired Chihuahua and her father Pepe, a Long-Haired AKC Chihuahua. We hope you all have a fun day. Erin-Go-Bark!

Pretty Pepe Is An AKC Long-Haired Chihuahua.

Pretty Pepe is now 11 years old. He was raised by a Dog Breeder that has Champion AKC Dogs. Pepe has the attitude and stance of a show dog, and if the breeder had a prettier dog in that litter I would be surprised. Perhaps Pepe was too tall. He must have been difficult to let go. I don't think I've ever seen a prettier Long-Haired Chihuahua, and I've looked at many photos and books about the breed. He's just a little love, intelligent, affectionate and keeps his position as top dog in our household. He's the father of Kadie, Pee-Wee and Genny-Poo. Genny resembles him the most, and Kadie resembled her mother, Sadie, who was a Maltese. Pee-Wee looks different than most Chihuahuas because his ears never stood up. Long-Haired Chihuahuas are a great breed, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants a pet for a small home. They aren't quiet though. Pepe likes to find the highest ground in the garden and yap yap yap his head off, until we put him back in the house. He just wants the rest of the neighborhood to know that a special dog lives here. It's too bad he never got the chance to earn the show ribbons to prove it. ~Carol Jean~

Snow Dogs...Sadie and Pepe.

Winter snow is beautiful, but we've all had enough of it here in the Mid-West. We've almost forgotten about warm days and flowers and green grass. But Mom says that soon, Spring will be here, and we'll be able to enjoy chasing each other around the Gazebo again. Come, Blessed Spring...

Dinky Daisy Bunny's Photo Is Featured Photo Of The Day At Webshots, In Pets, Chihuahuas. Feb. 1, 2009.

[Post By Dinky Daisy Bunny.] Hello Friends, I'm very pleased to report that I have another photo featured at Webshots. Mom bought me this silly Bunny outfit for Halloween last year. Actually, it's very warm and cosy, and I don't really mind wearing it...that is, if Mom wants to carry me around while I wear it. If she puts me on the ground, the hood tips over my eyes a bit and it's hard to see where I'm going! Then I bump into things. Everyone thinks I'm very funny and cute wearing it, and I love the extra attention and treats that gives me. Someone told Mom that I'm just a big ham. But no, I'm just a big Bunny! Tonight Mom made a funny E-Card with me wearing this hat and dancing to some fun music. We thought you would enjoy seeing it too. When you're done watching it, you can even make a Dancing Dog card of your own! A link to the card is beneath my Daisy Bunny photo in the sidebar. Then you can see how talented I really am! Cha Cha Cha! ~Dinky Daisy Bunny~ PS, After Mom made my card, she thought it was so funny, she made another one with Waldo, but I think mine is Way Cuter! (To return to this blog after viewing a card, just click on your Back arrow button in the upper left corner of your computer screen.)

Meet Clancy The Rescue Dog. He's A Pomchi, Or A Pomeranian Chihuahua.

Looking at these photos just breaks my heart. The first two photos are from the day we got him. The third photo is after only five days. The last two photos are after eight months. It's remarkable. I don't think I'd even recognise him as the same dog.

Poor Clancy came to us after he'd been lost, abandoned, abused, starved and neglected. He was covered in fleas, and had broken teeth and a swollen mouth from trying to chew his way free, or the Vet said, he may have been trying to eat rocks. He was almost too weak to stand and could only eat a spoonful of canned food at a time because his tummy was so small from starvation. He was just skin and bones. He only weighed 6 1/2 pounds. Now he weighs 11 pounds. He looked at me with an expression of fear mixed with hope as he wondered what another human being would put him through. All I could do was cradle him in my arms, cry on his fur and say soothing words to him. After a $400.00 trip to the vet, two flea baths and some TLC, he's turned into a beautiful dog, who's very sweet and loving. We are both glad we found each. The other dogs welcomed him immediately! They gathered around him, and wiggle-wagged all over. Pepe hugged him and placed his chin on Clancy's back, and clung to him the first few months he was here. I'm sure Pepe's healing hugs gave Clancy the will to live. That, and all the love we could give him. Now he has his forever home, here with us, and all the Little Dinky Dogs. ~Carol Jean~ [To view a Slide show of Clancy's photos at Webshots, Click on his photo in the sidebar at the right side of this page.]

The Steal Each Other's Cookie Game...Post By Dinky Daisy.

[Post By Dinky Daisy.] Hello Friends. How are you holding up this winter? Here in the Midwest of America we've had snow, cold, ice, more snow and snow. It seems like there's never been so much snow here before. We Dinky Dogs hear Mom say, "Let's go outside, Doggies." and then we all run to the door, and crash into each other as we all try to be the first doggie out the door. Then, the dog in the lead (Usually Waldo) puts on the brakes as he sees the snow is falling once again, and all the rest of us dogs, pile up behind him in a crush of little bodies. Then we turn and look at Mom standing in the doorway, and she says, "Go, Go, Go!" And so we do. Out we run to the gate and back as fast as we can, then we touch base with the deck, then run out a second time, and each one of us finds a place where the snow is not too deep to do our business. Then Mom calls us in and we all go crashing back into the house, feet frozen, heads covered with snow, and thankful we have a nice warm house to return to. Then Mom gives us all a cookie and tells us what good little dogs we are. I agree, we are good little dogs! Then we each take our cookies to a different corner of the house to eat them in private. But because we've been cooped up in the house so long this winter, and we need to invent new games we can play in the house, we play the Steal Each Other's Cookie Game. Waldo will hide his cookie beneath his blanket and then sneak around to see if anyone has left their cookie unattended. Usually, he tries to get Genny's cookie, so she runs circles around the kitchen table with her cookie held tightly in her mouth. But Genny's so silly, she stops to bark at Waldo, and that causes her to drop her cookie. Sophie knows from the past that this often happens, so she's right there watching the whole thing, and when Genny drops her cookie, Sophie snatches it up and runs. That makes Waldo chase her, and Mom has to give poor Genny a second cookie. I believe that was Genny's plan all along, to get Waldo to chase Sophie and forget about her. Meanwhile, Pepe digs Waldo's cookie out from beneath the blanket, so now Pepe has two. I take my cookie over to my pillow and hide my face in the corner with my cookie hidden beneath me. They can't get it that way. I often guard my cookie for an hour without eating it. Sometimes I just lick it a little and savor the ownership of it. Pee-Wee gobbles his cookie up right away as soon as he gets it, and Clancy takes his cookie upstairs to eat it in peace, then comes back down the stairs and tells Mom that he's been overlooked and never got a cookie at all, and she gives him a second one. Mom figures Clancy needs fattening up anyway, so she pretends she doesn't know what he's up to. Then finally, Waldo remembers his cookie and finds that Pepe has taken it, and so he also tells Mom that he needs another cookie, and she gives it to him, silly dog! Then things quiet down and we all take a little nap until Mom again calls out, "Let's go outside. Doggies." Then we get to do it all over again! ~ Tail Wags And Doggie Kisses To You All...Dinky Daisy ~

Meet Kadie, A Maltese Chihuahua.

Meet Kadie...her mother Sadie was half Maltese and half Chihuahua, and her father Pepe is a Long-Haired Chihuahua. Their photos are in the sidebar at the right of this page. Kadie passed away 2 years ago next month, but I still feel her presence in my garden. She had such a gentle, trusting soul. She loved everyone and was the first to greet visitors at the door, and walked them out to the gate when they left. She was always at my heels where ever I went, or sitting beneath my chair. I sure miss her. I came across this poem recently, and it made me think of her. I hope you enjoy it. The author is unknown.

If you are alone, I'll be your shadow.
If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder.
If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow.
If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile.
But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me.
